take a drive up to... point reyes

About 2 hours north right on the coast is one of my absolute favorite places. From the main parking lot of the ranger station in Point Reyes you can go on a hike to the coast, drive about a mile south to Stinson Beach, or drive about 15 miles over to the lighthouse; preferably, do all of the above. We went on a gorgeous day and the drive was beautiful. The lighthouse is unfortunately closed on the tuesdays and wednesdays, when we chose to go; but luckily Martin and I have no problem jumping fences :) If you're ever in the mood for a relaxing day on the coast, take a trip up to Point Reyes.
