Happy Valentine's Day =)

{not my belly but isn't it soooo cute! I found it Valentine's day appropriate}

{there's our little peanut!! we think "he" looks like charlie brown ;)}

Sorry I've been away from the blog everybody!! But I'm back!!
Yes it is true.. I'm expecting! We're so excited for this little bundle of joy you have no idea. The morning/all day sickness is starting to fade, so I just might be stepping into the kitchen again soon to make some things a little more challenging than toast :) Also, now that I don't have this little secret always on my mind, I don't feel like I'm telling a fib when I give updates.

2011 updates for the Martin and Kristin Murray family:

We are both in the middle of winter quarter at Cal State East Bay and having a heck of a time getting all our homework done! If only we didn't like to spend so much time together ;)
We are currently 14 weeks along (woooowhoooo!) and anxiously awaiting this little one that will be arriving somewhere around August 14th.
I am doing a lot better this week, even though I still carry around saltines with me at all times.
Next quarter I will finish up my prereqs for nursing and I will be school free for the first year of our little one's life (I apply in the fall, if I get accepted I will be going the following fall... which is when Martin should just be graduating! We're planners over here in the Murray house)
We will most likely find out the sex of the babe.. not positive yet.
And we are having a fabulous year! We hit 1 year of being married in January and it's been a wonderful wonderful married life. I couldn't ask for more in a husband and from wCheck Spellinghat I hear, he's pretty happy too :)

Thanks for hanging in there with me everybody.. this is gonna be a fun year!

with love,
Kristin Ann :)

{p.s. I am so madly in love with my husband Martin Murray. I could not be happier with where I am in life and where we are in our relationship!}

2 years ago today...

2 years ago today the love of my life told me he loved me (for the first time) and I said it back. We have been inseparable ever since. I guess Central Park in New York City is as good a place as any to do something like that :)

To celebrate we're spending a few days in Santa Cruz at a lovely bed and breakfast,
oh how I am in love.

My new fav

This adorable little sweater!!

The love of my life took me on a little shopping spree for my birthday (I don't normally do a lot of shopping on my own, because I'm trying to cut back on spending) and it was such a treat!!! Normally I'm a bit of a bargain hunter, but we went to my favorite outdoor shopping center in Palo Alto, and he talked me into buying a few items I normally would not. Like this adorable sweater from Banana Republic.

Thanks for a great day sweetheart :)

Tomorrow is my day :)

My honey and I have been trying to plan out our week and it has just not gone to plan. We originally planned to go camping Monday through Wednesday and then a trip to Utah for a wedding Friday through the following Wednesday, but due to family issues (on both sides) we had to drop both of those plans! Our back up plan didn't work out either, but we came up with a plan! A spa day for me and my honey in the afternoon, then a little shopping, hopefully a new addition to my camera (all thanks to the love of my life), and then dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, Papillion, with just a few of my favorites (Martin of course, my parents and Jen).

Martin I love you so much. I never thought I would be looking forward to my 25th birthday, but I am. My last two birthdays have been the best so far, and all thanks to you. Here's to my first birthday as a married woman :)

Our Story...

I have a little story for you all. Because I was never actually engaged, not too many were able to ask or hear much about Martin and I, and how we came to be. I don't keep a journal, I know I should, and so, I thought I would write it all out and share. Life is great, this last year has been more than amazing, and the best year of my life, and all thanks to the man of my dreams.

Although Martin and I have known each other for about 4 years, our romantic relationship only trails back to around April of 2008. We met while working at Outback Steakhouse in Fremont, where I stayed for only about a year, although he was there about 5 (wow). During the year I worked there he had started a new relationship and was off and on in an old one, so dating wasn’t something on my mind. I found a great group of friends while working there who all thought highly of Martin, but didn’t necessarily spend a lot of time with him or his group of friends. He was one of the few that I tried to make conversation with regularly; if ever we were closing or opening together, so when there was downtime.

Just over a year after starting, because of many outside sources, I decided it was time to make a major change in my life, so.. I moved to Utah! My sister and favorite cousin were in the midst of moving themselves, and I thought, why not?

I kept in touch with a few people from work after I moved away, thank goodness for social networks like myspace and facebook. And for whatever reason, I would check every now and again to see how Martin was doing. Although I knew his brother better (he also worked at Outback with me, and actually trained me, and was my age) I had always felt a slight connection to Martin. Every time I was back in town I would try to visit Outback and have dinner with a few of my friends, or at least visit those working, and would love any opportunity to talk to him, just as friends, never with anything else in mind though.

After living in Utah about a year and a half and having so many problems with school, work, my health, living situation, and my financial situation, I decided that I wasn’t supposed to be there anymore. I moved back to Fremont and knew that I would find more what I was looking for in life there. On top of that, school would be cheaper, living would be cheaper, jobs pay more, etc. etc.

When I finally moved back and had let everything soak in after a few months, I met up with some friends at Outback just like old times. They were discussing some plans for the weekend and Martin’s show came up. I knew he had written some songs and played the guitar, but I had no idea he was pursuing a career in music. With a few friends I went to his show that weekend. Just happy to have gotten out of the house and been around some new people, it was enjoyable. On my way out, I said great show and goodbye and he said, let’s get some coffee later in the week, and I said sure. And that’s really where it started. After work one night we met up and went to bay street coffee, where we both found out neither of us drank coffee and we got hot chocolate. Talked for a few hours and I guess I kind of knew he was the one. In a nut shell at least. (Within the next week or so, I told my mom we were soul mates, but we weren’t going to date, we were just too different).

At the time we had very different lives; I had just met someone I thought I could date, and he did not want to date anyone, but we clicked. The following week I went out to dinner with him a few times, had a few more long conversations and then I spent a week away, visiting the one I thought I could date, and it turned out I was very wrong. It took that trip for me to realize a guy like Martin was what I really wanted, whether or not he was the one, wasn’t as important at the time. Long story short, it turned out we loved being around each other. We could see each other almost all day every day and not get sick of each other and from there it all happened so fast. He left for a cross country tour/vacation with his brother. After a month of being a way, a group of my friends went out to New York to surprise them, where I didn’t know what would happen, at that point we were friends, and that was it. He told me he loved me as we watched the sun rise in central park the first morning I was there, and we’ve been inseparable ever since.

After about a year of dating I knew I would never find anyone as amazing or someone even with the deep down ability to love me as much as he did, and so I knew, that was it. I think it was probably around the same time for him as well.

Never once had I been the one to initiate marriage conversation, yet it was brought up often. Whether to me, or my sister, he found a way to bring up “future wife” comments or “future brother-in-law” comments. Finally I asked, when’s this going to happen, since you seem so sure of it. And Martin replied with a “you’ll see.” At this point I think I just melted inside and was just hopelessly in love. We found ourselves happier than we had ever been and more in love than we ever expected. Random days would be thrown out (by Martin) of when we would get married and I just went with it. I had no idea the seriousness or how soon it was going to happen, and I was just overjoyed that I didn’t have to worry about it. I knew I would never find myself in a 6 year + relationship wondering, what am I doing, or what does he want to do. (Which was a fear of mine in the beginning).

One day it came up again, let’s get married, says Martin. And I said ok. How soon? He says, I like 2010, it’s a cool year, and easy to remember the anniversary. I say, how about January 2nd. He says, perfect :) and that was it. That afternoon, we realized that January 2nd is a palindrome (01/02/2010) and a Saturday, and we were so excited. We looked up court information for Santa Cruz, because we knew we had wanted to elope in Santa Cruz and from there we quickly planned the whole thing. It was a weekend so we couldn’t do it in a court, and we decided we wanted our families there. We had a picture perfect setting for the wedding festivities, Shadowbrook, one of our first dates, and for the next month or so we kept it all a secret. Christmas morning we announced to our families that we were getting married the following week, although some knew (for planning’s sake) and others had a hunch, because we had asked everyone to keep that date open for a very important dinner they were invited to. It was perfect, the weather, the ceremony, our families, and of course, us. That last month actually felt like it was forever until we were getting married. And when the day came it was an amazing joy and a sigh of relief. We did it. We got married and we are just overwhelmed sometimes with the love we have for each other.

what I am thankful for...

Yes, Thanksgiving is a day to be thankful, did we all forget?
I am so very thankful for.....

-First and foremost, Martin. He's the love of my life, and he just makes everything so wonderful. We're in love, and we only look forward to every future day we get to spend together.

-My family. I love each and every one of them, and I'm so glad that I get to be with them, day in and day out. Most of my future plans involve staying in or around the area just so I don't have to leave them. Mom, Dad, Jason (Katie and kids), Doug, Ryan (Melissa and kids), Todd (Heidi, Lizzie, and almost here baby Max), Jana, and Jennifer, I love you so much.

-Martin's family. They're so amazing, and I am reminded of that with every opportunity to see them (including tonight, which is the Gallagher thanksgiving night).
-My talents. I realize that I have been blessed with creativity and the skills and ambition to do something with it, and it is not something I take for granted.

{Just a few of the major things in my life I am thankful for, there are lots of little things as well.
What are you thankful for?}
P.S. Eat lots of good food, say thank you to those who prepare it, and I hope you all have a fabulous day.
Happy Thanksgiving

I will improve..

I just ordered my new computer!! (Martin did actually, but I helped) so I will be back to blogging in no time! Also, my sewing machine comes this next week, so I'll have things to blog about! Also, my Mom's camera came, so once my little memory card comes in the mail, I'll be taking pictures in no time!!!

I can't wait for the holidays, and to tell you the truth, they're already here! Tomorrow night I'm making the cheesecakes for my Wednesday thanksgiving bash with Martin's family, and then my family, and before you know it, Christmas will be here.

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I definitely did :)

{Thermal Love}

{Just making sure everyone knows that I am madly in love. Especially you Martin. }

spend an afternoon... hiking mission peak :)

{these are phone photos, hence the odd focus and what not}

Don't know if you've heard, but I'm in love.
Last saturday we decided to do something productive with our day off, and after a debate over whether or not we thought I could actually make it to the top (Martin thought I could, I thought I could not) we just decided to go for it. With the loving support of my man, we actually made it to the top! Keep in mind it took us a very long time, and many breaks were needed (by me of course, not Martin). But the weather was perfect, and the view was amazing, and I could not have asked for a better day.

I have a problem...

This has nothing to do with creativity or artistic wonder, or tasty treats, just a little personal "this is what's going on." And an explanation to the lack of posts this week (also, my computer decided it no longer wants to connect to the internet this past month, perfect timing).

In the last few months I have had terrible headaches. At first I wasn't alarmed, because to tell you the truth, I always get headaches. But, they started to feel a little different than normal, and so I googled some of my symptoms. Surprisingly, I searched for "headaches that feel like you have a band of pressure wrapped around" and I was given quite a few results with people that had the same problem. They all seemed to be related to your teeth or jaw. I was actually pretty happy, because I thought, if I have an infection or something along those lines, it means it is fixable. Went to the dentist, no infection, no wisdom tooth impaction, I have TMJ syndrome (or a tmj disorder). Which just means there's something wrong with your jaw. It's not out of alignment, stress on the muscles in your jaw and in your neck can cause jaw popping, and a loss of jaw motion, and lots of other fun stuff. Well I was able to get put on my Mom's dental insurance (thank goodness I'm a student this quarter) and so at least it's not all paid for out of pocket. But it still may take a while to fix things, if things are even fixable.

The love of my life plays in a band, and I've had to limit my time at his shows (which would make my ears ring even before I came across a jaw problem) in hopes to limit my headaches. And it is a little sad, because I love to support him and hear him play at any chance I may get. You can almost count on a swelling pain around my head by the end of the day no matter what I do, and currently pain while eating a bagel. So it's been a little rough.

{Martin sent me this picture last year when he was on tour, I think this picture was taken from coney island, or somewhere east coast, we had only been dating a month or so. Lucky me to have someone fall in love so soon and have no problem showing me or anyone else.}

Thank goodness Martin is the most understanding and patient man, and all my complaining, and sometimes crying, still has yet to phase him. We go to Jamba Juice, and play Scrabble, and just relax, in hopes to keep me feeling better. I love him :) And although I wouldn't let him buy me a new computer, which he tried insisting on, he lets me use his computer, and I managed to have 30 posts last month!! It was a little goal of mine, and even with all the nonsense going on with my head, I still managed to devote time to my little blog.

weekend end :)

The Regina Spektor concert was so so amazing! I wanted her to play hours and hours more (unfortunately she stopped after 2). It was definitely the best show I've ever been to. I would recommend to anyone to see a show at the Fox Theater in Oakland. If you sit up in the balcony it is a lovely experience because you get to sit (which I love) and you're still very close to the stage. Loved it! The love of my life took the night off work, and I had a much better time with him than I could have had with anyone else. We also went to dinner at Scott's in Oakland on the wharf, a seafood restaurant, fabulous, I recommend it. (I love you Martin p.s.)

Halloween was also very fun. Melissa, Ryan and the boys, Heidi and liz, and John, Carrie and their boys all came over to the house for some pizza and snacks and then we went trick or treating! Holidays are much better when you have toddlers to enjoy them with.

Hope your weekend has been as fabulous as mine!

Happy Monday all :)

Have I mentioned..

that I am head over heels in love. Thursdays and Fridays I realize most what it is that keeps a smile on my face and a happy feeling in heart, and that's the love of my life. (He works on Thursdays and Fridays). And although my time is spent quite productive, doing laundry, homework, cooking, cleaning, and enjoying family, at almost any moment I still feel as if something is missing, until I get that txt, just to remind me, that I am not forgotten and I am loved just as much as I love.

a true love moment

As most of you friends and family that read my blog know, I am very very much in love. I don't share many moments with you, but I felt the need to share just this one (for now).
Yesterday as Martin was about to get ready for his show, which he has every Sunday night, I gave a slight sad look. Not because I don't love his shows, but we have both been a tad sick, and with a 3 hour show, it becomes a long evening.

He gave me a big hug, and said,
"do you want me to cancel the show and just hug you for the rest of the night, because I'll do it."
(Keep in mind, he's a bit of a jokster).
I replied with a bit of a smirk,
"really? you'd do that for me."
And he replied something along the lines of,
"Kristin, I would cancel the show in a second for you."

Well my heart melted. And as I type this I get teary eyed, just thinking about how lucky I am to be in such a loving relationship. (It doesn't help that I have just been so emotional today, I'm not sure why). Music is his world, and playing shows is a very big part of that, but I really do know that he would give up just about everything for me and just to make me happy, and I feel the same for him. And although I would never feel the need to have him cancel any show, I know how much he loves me, and it is something I am overly grateful for everyday.
p.s. everyone deserves true love, it's something you should strive for :)

{I was a bridesmaid in one of my best friends, Jillian's wedding, this was a candid shot, and I am oh so in love}
